Introspective on External Private Microblogging Sites

Introspective on External Private Microblogging Sites:

Interesting activity today around social media. The debate rages on around so called 'external' 'internal' social networks like yammer. I wonder how some companies allow facebook, twitter, and other non-private sites with little to no policy on how to handle but not so-called 'private microblogging sites'? Being able to converse with colleagues about client situations is what clients want (with a level of privacy, they're called 'best practices'.

social media is about conversation, enlightenment, measurement of gross sentiment, and the ability to speak freely. The social network will deem what is appropriate, and what is not (just like free markets does with competition).

Engagement is by choice, but conversation will happen regardless of the rules, media, or location.

"Even when laws have been written down, they ought not always to remain unaltered. " Aristotle.

There should be alternatives and not just ultimatums given by companies, but maybe ask the very bright professionals that work for that company through intuitive forums, maybe begin a thread on here on how to crowdsource the solution to that company's problems. That may seen WAY too obvious, but such is the world when it comes to social media adoption.

Meanwhile companies like the aforementioned one are getting their lunch eaten by the competition.
